National Board of Review (NBR) – fondato a New York nel 1909 – è il più antico riconoscimento cinematografico americano che ogni anno inaugura la stagione dei premi lanciando la campagna per gli Academy Award, gli Oscar.
Dal 1916 fino agli anni cinquanta centinaia di film apposero nei titoli di testa la scritta “approvato dal National Board of Review”, che divenne un motivo di fiducia per il pubblico.
